Lakshya & IDA organize a mini-marathon in Nerul for the cause of animal welfare

Lakshya in association with In Defense of Animals (IDA) organized a mini-marathon in Nerul for the cause of animal welfare on February 19th', 2011. The marathon was a part of Lakshya, a sports festival of SIES College. More than 100 students participated in this run of 6 km.

The marathon received a great response. Students preferred to run for the cause instead of enjoying their Sunday. Freshness and smile on their faces were showing real love and affection towards animals. Many students mentioned that, "We are feeling proud of ourselves today!"

The marathon started from college gate to the road leading to Nerul Station. Students and the traffic police coordinated well to make it a success. The route was lined by IDA banners and volunteers who were continuously cheering the runners while supplying water bottles and biscuits. The show stopper of this marathon was a dog who also took part in this run. With running badge number 101, he was continuously grabbing attention of public.

The winners of this marathon have given an IDA mug and an IDA T-shirt. This marathon gave a wonderful experience and a strong message to everyone. "I am very happy with the response of the students and their enthusiasm and interest in animal and their welfare," said Vivienne Choudhury of IDA.
