SPONSOR
A DOG & BECOME A GUARDIAN ANGEL FOR AN IDA COMMUNITY
DOG
-
an appeal by Ms. Fizzah Shah
Dear
Friends,
As you know IDA India believes in
the right of survival of healthy dogs. Therefore
we have nearly hundred community dogs that have
reached to us, either because they are abused by
animal haters or ill treated and abandoned by the
“owner” because he or she has become
old or because the “owner” has shifted
abroad. Then there are dogs that came to our centre
for treatment, but after treatment we felt they
were unfit to survive on the road, so we sheltered
them at our centre. We have few blind and old dogs
that need extra care and attention. All these are
our community dogs. Many a times we bring in puppies
or kittens because their mothers have died in road
accidents or otherwise. These small puppies and
kittens are a great responsibility for us, which
we have accepted whole-heartedly. These puppies,
kittens and dogs are happy, contented and secure
in our care. We have named all of them.
Raju, the tough brown male dog that
was thrown out from the society because he was over-protective
towards the premises where he lived and barked at
strangers. Bajirao is an over friendly dog but doesn’t
stand any nonsense. Laila, the black Pomeranian
came to us because the “owner” tied
her to the lamppost and left her to die on the road.
Jengo’s “owner” went abroad for
a better career and left Jengo to face the worst.
Browny the stray female dog was not allowed back
to her place, after she recovered from illness.
We have three-legged Buntu, who cheerfully keeps
on hopping around on his three legs. Then there
is Grandpa, who is blind and old, but eats his food
very gleefully. Chhotu is an apple of our IDA Staff’s
eye, as he is one of the lucky puppies that came
to us after his mother’s tragic death and
despite all odds, managed to survive. Then there
are Lucy, Kalu, Jambo, Bhola, Bindu, Shiba, Ladoo
and many more. Samosa, our happy three legged and
one-eyed dog stayed with us for five years and left
for his happy journey to heaven in June 2005. All
our community dogs are vaccinated against viral
diseases like rabies and distemper .
Friends, all our community dogs
are uniquely special individuals, and live a dignified
life at IDA India’s Centre. After reading
about our community dogs, you must be having an
ache in your heart and a passion to do something
for at least one of them. So IDA India has come
out with a unique programme where you can sponsor
one of the dogs from IDA India. The dog will stay
in our care, but you will be his or her Guardian
Angel. We will send you periodic updates and recent
photographs of your adopted dog. Unfortunately if
your adopted dog dies due to some illness, the sponsorship
will be transferred to another dog. You can also
gift the sponsorship of a dog to a child or a friend
– a gift that has no equal – the joy
of knowing that you have really helped someone worthy.
Sponsorship will be accepted for minimum six months
on the basis of Rs. 450/- per month, for which you
will be eligible for tax exemption under Section
80-G of the Income Tax Act.
Your
help and support will help us to continue with our
mission and our four legged friends will be honored
and grateful to you for your gesture of love and
kindness. They may not be physically beautiful but
they are lovely, with those eyes full of gratitude
and hope, which says life is never so easy for us.
On behalf of all our furry friends, I say thank
you and look forward for your response to our unique
programme that will take us a long way to support
our four legged friends, who need your help!!!
