SubjectHelping injured stray animals

I wish to raise an issue that many animals lovers must be facing frequently. Often, we see injured animals roaming on the streets, but there is little that we can do about the same as it is difficult to keep track of them till someone from an animal welfare NGO like IDA arrives. One option that I try to exercise is feeding them biscuits to keep them occupied till help arrives, but often, I have noticed that some are too scared to trust human beings. This is more relevant when we spot such animals in places other than our neighbourhood. What can one do in such circumstances?

Hi,

Normally if u call the IDA ambulance within the time frame they are available they visit immediately, this is one thing i can suggest, if ambulance is coming right away u can take help of one more person with u, One person keeps following that injured dog, if he is constantly moving and other person can wait for the ambulance to arrive once the ambulance is arrived u can contact the first person to locate the dog and help him get to the hospital

I am not sure if i could explain,

Second thing is if the animal is not that serious and needing immd attention u can be friendly with the dog by feeding him regardless if he is getting close to u or not but at least he will come to u when u feed him and in couple of days the time is fixed for them to wait and u feed them call the ambulance at that time, Not sure if it works for u but it does for me all the time, we have been in to this since past 25 years.

besides Ida, I have taken help from an charitable organisation named
vardhaman sanskar dham ... from ghatkopar tel no .232936575
they help by coming and treating the injured stray dogs, or injured pigeons. They do visit more than once, till the animal is fit again. They do not have their premises to carry the injured animal, but many a times treating them for 3 to 4 times does help.
They never ask for donation, but from my side , I do give a small amt as per my capacity.

they have treated many a dogs in chunabhatti area .... thanks to timely help, the animals do recover.
