Film Star Raveena Tandon extends support to IDA Ms. Raveena Tandon, the famous film star, has been a great supporter of IDA India. In order to promote us, she came up with a brilliant idea that IDA India should hold a stall at her daughter's birthday party on 15th March 2009. This was a great opportunity to project ourselves.
We set up our kiosk, put up information brochures about our work and some products like T-shirts, bags on sale, took two puppies from Deonar Centre and with help of 5 volunteers set shop on the occasion. Guests who came for the party were 'who's who' of the Indian film industry. While their children were thrilled that they could play with the puppies, their parents spent time at our kiosk showed keen interest in our work to help homeless animals, purchased our products, signed the sponsorship for our sheltered dogs and registered themselves for receiving regular mailers. It felt good to see that most of them were keen to help the homeless animals, in some way or the other.
The puppies did not get adopted, and understandably so, as adopting a pet is a long commitment, and a decision that cannot and should not be taken on the spur of the moment.
While IDA India did benefit from the sale of products, the fact that we could reach out to so many people in one evening, was more satisfying.
