Chulbuli The Naughty Squirrel Rescued By Fizzah Shah

On 9th May at 12.15 am I got a knock on my door. Naturally I got panicky. I opened the door to find two young excited ladies standing with a basket. Before I could invite them in my house they pushed themselves in and rested the basket on the table. I was in a superlative degree of surprise and inquisitiveness. Finally one of them spoke. They had found a baby squirrel lying near their lift. They picked it up and frantically started calling various animal organizations. Somebody gave them my address and these young ladies started hunting for me and after driving two hours from Bandra they finally landed at my place. Friends, tell me what choice I had? I smiled and accepted the gift. I appreciated their efforts to save the squirrel and for not resting till finally they found me in this over populated city. The girls had some cold drinks and left my home with a thousand thanks leaving this small cutie in my posession.

I opened the basket and saw the little one was curled and sleeping fearlessly in one corner. I had no idea how I was going to keep this small bundle of fur among ten dominant cats and two spoilt dogs. Anyways I had to do something, no choice really! I tried to give her some milk but she was not ready to take. Her one eye was open and other was closed. Maybe some injury. Poor little thing had probably just fallen from her nest. In the morning I started calling vets and animal lovers about how and what to feed her. Cow milk diluted with water after every two hours was advised by the experts. She accepted a few drops of milk with a dropper and went to sleep peacefully.

The big question was who will feed her every two hours when I will go to office. Everybody at home regreted that they could not do the baby sitting for squirrel. My husband joked about why can't it go to office and that's it. I thanked my husband 100 times for his timely sense of humor. I packed her with bottle of milk and dropper ignoring the pleas of my husband that he was just joking and the squirrel cannot go to office, please spare the office. But I had no choice. I saw her dancing in the basket and in the same moment I named her CHULBULI.

So friends this is the story of Chulbuli The Squirrel who joined my office and now she has become so playful that she holds the dropper in her hand when I am feeding her milk. If you can't believe? see the photos of my Chulbili. Guys I have fallen in love with her and my heart sinks when I think that one day when she will be ready to climb on a tree I will have to release her into her habitat and have to give her freedom because squirrels are born to be free.
